Stephanie Baker

Workforce Development and Community Engagement

Stephanie Baker is a senior research associate and lead for the Dock to Door (D2D) Workforce Development and Community Engagement program. With over 25 years of experience at VTTI, she specializes in facilitation, qualitative research, and educational outreach. She has worked on a variety of projects, including an educational outreach program for teen drivers on how to safely share the road with heavy trucks, a focus group study related to passenger acceptance of automated driving systems, and a project exploring how to design an educational outreach program for new vehicle technology with a focus on electric vehicles.

Stephanie earned her M.P.A. from the University of Georgia along with a Certificate in Environmental Ethics. As a graduate assistant at UGA, she received training in community development facilitation, which sparked her interest in the use of facilitation for research and outreach. After graduate school, she served in the Peace Corps as a Community and Organizational Development Volunteer. More recently, to support her research and outreach efforts, she completed a course at the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health in Designing and Conducting Focus Group Interviews.

Her education, training, and experience have provided her with a solid background in a variety of technologies and outreach approaches that she will apply to her ongoing research and outreach efforts, particularly through the D2D Workforce Development and Community Engagement program.
