Andrew Krum
Connected & Automated Vehicles Throughout the Supply Chain
Andrew Krum is a Senior Research Associate and Group Leader in the Division of Freight, Transit and Heavy Vehicle Safety. Andrew is the lead for the Dock to Door (D2D) Connected & Automated Vehicles Throughout the Supply Chain program. He has 20 years of experience as a transportation researcher and engineer managing research projects, evaluating vehicle technology performance, and designing vehicle systems. His research focus has been in the field of heavy and commercial vehicle human factors through funding from FMCSA, FTA, NHTSA, NIOSH, and the National Academies. Andrew also serves as the Chair of the SAE Truck and Bus Automation Safety Committee and is active in industry standards groups and forums developing best practices for automated freight systems.
In his past at Navistar Inc., Andrew served as a Senior Technical Specialist in the Ergonomics and Driver Accommodation Group providing guidance on the needs of the drivers and crew on North American, Global, and Military projects spanning heavy-light through heavy-heavy vehicle development and testing. He has guided design and development of human performance requirements on multiple heavy vehicle cab designs for three separate heavy vehicle manufacturers. Andrew earned a M.S. in Human Factors from Wright State University preceded by a B.A. in Mathematics with minors in Physics and Psychology from Cedarville University.
